A Season of Gratitude
As the holiday season approaches, the spirit of giving shines brighter than ever at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) Foundation. We are deeply grateful for the incredible support we’ve received this year, which has helped STEGH make incredible strides in transforming healthcare in St. Thomas and Elgin County.
A Year of Transformative Impact
2024 has been a remarkable year of impact, marked by extraordinary achievements that are already changing lives. Together, we reached a monumental milestone—the arrival of our community’s very first MRI machine, made possible through the Transforming Tomorrow – Diagnostic Imaging Campaign. This state-of-the-art technology is more than just equipment; it is a game-changer. For the first time, patients can receive timely diagnoses and advanced care close to home, reducing stress and travel. Since its arrival, over 440patients have already benefitted from life-changing MRI scans—an achievement made possible because of your kindness and generosity. As I walk the hospital halls and hear the stories of these patients, I am reminded of why we do this work. Every scan, every diagnosis, and every moment of reassurance for families are direct reflections of your support.
In addition to this groundbreaking achievement, 2024 has brought further advancements to STEGH thanks to your support. From purchasing Birthing Lights for the Women’s & Children’s Department, providing comfort and enhanced care for families, to purchasing Scope and Slit Lamps for the Emergency Department, improving critical diagnostics for patients requiring urgent care. These enhancements are making a profound difference, ensuring that patients in our community receive exceptional care when they need it most.
Giving Hope and Care This Holiday Season
While we celebrate these accomplishments, we know our work is far from over. As we look ahead to 2025, we remain focused on meeting the evolving needs of our hospital and community. This year-end, we are excited to share a special appeal in collaboration with Dr. Cieslak and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to raise funds for much needed Zoll Defibrillators, Code Blue Crash Carts, and a Portable Ultrasound Machine. These critical tools will ensure our care teams can respond swiftly and effectively in life-saving moments, giving patients the best chance for recovery.
A friendly reminder: To receive a charitable receipt for the 2024 tax year, please ensure your donation is received by December 31st. Your generosity makes all the difference!
The holiday season is a time of reflection, togetherness, and generosity. It’s a moment to pause and recognize the incredible power of community, where every act of kindness—every donation—moves us closer to the exceptional care we all deserve.
On behalf of the entire STEGH Foundation team, thank you for being part of this journey. Your support inspires hope today and transforms tomorrow for generations to come.
