Transforming Tomorrow Together: Celebrating Our Community’s Impact on Local Healthcare

At the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) Foundation, our journey to bring excellent healthcare to our community is one we are proud to walk alongside each of you. Together, with the unwavering support of community members like you, we are making strides toward our $8 million Transforming Tomorrow –Diagnostic Imaging Campaign (Campaign) goal, creating a brighter, healthier future for everyone in St. Thomas and Elgin County.

Making Milestones: The Transforming Tomorrow - Diagnostic Imaging Campaign

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are thrilled to announce we’ve reached 97% of our campaign goal! With our first-ever MRI machine now operational, patients in St. Thomas and Elgin County are already benefiting from the incredible advancements we have achieved together. But our mission doesn’t end here—there is so much more on the horizon.

This Campaign is about more than an MRI. In the coming months, I will be sharing updates on the addition of state-of-the-art ultrasound machines, renovations to our Diagnostic Imaging Waiting Area, and improvements to our Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac Diagnostics Departments. Together, we are equipping our hospital with technology that brings excellence in health care closer to home.

And there’s still time to maximize your impact! The FDC Foundation’s generous matching opportunity is at 92% exhausted. Every dollar given before December 31st doubles, moving us closer to our goal!

Celebrating Community Contributions: Coming Together for Breast Cancer Awareness

October was a powerful and inspirational month for breast cancer awareness with our community showing incredible support for those impacted by breast cancer, right here at home. All proceeds raised went directly toward enhancing our Mammography Department, ensuring compassionate and advanced care for patients and their families.

The 5th Annual Pink Pumpkins Fundraiser, hosted by Geerlinks Home Hardware, was a fantastic success with more than 300 pink pumpkins sold in just one day.

I was deeply moved by Kelly’s story, a local breast cancer survivor who shared her journey of diagnosis and treatment at STEGH. Read her inspiring story here:

In a heartwarming display ofcommunity spirit, The St. Thomas Stars U10A Hockey Team generously donatedtheir admission fees from October 26th and 27th, alongwith proceeds from the concession stand, raising $1,254 for STEGH in support ofBreast Cancer Awareness Month.

Additionally, the Petals of Love Fundraiser allowed community members to show their heartfelt support by nominating individuals for a bouquet through a $2 donation. Each bouquet symbolized not only love and hope, but our collective commitment to battling breast cancer.

To everyone who participated in these events, thank you. These gestures of compassion and support embody the heart of our mission.

As we head into the final months of this year, we are energized by the impact we have made together. Every donation, every pledge, and every act of support adds to the strength of our community. For those who have joined us, shared in our mission, and given generously -thank you. Your support makes it possible to build a brighter healthcare future for our community—one filled with strength, innovation, and care.

Together, we are truly transforming tomorrow and creating a legacy of care that will last for generations to come.
